Family Medicine and Rural Health NP and PA Fellowship
About
Program Overview
This unique, intensive program will build upon the strength of our highly successful PA and NP practice already in place, combined with the largest and most effective family practice and rural health practice in southwest Virginia. The fellowship will be a complement to the Family Medicine and Rural Health program, as NP and PA fellows will benefit from didactic and clinical experiences that mirror family medicine physician residency training.
Mission, Goals and Strengths
- Prepare PAs and NPs for careers in family practice and rural health settings as competent, highly functional members in health care
- Provide PAs and NPs with further education, specialized clinical and professional experience that distinguishes them from non-specialty trained PAs and NPs
- Retain focused and well-trained PAs and NPs who are interested in academics and higher learning as clinicians and employees of Carilion Clinic
Graduates of this one-year fellowship program will possess substantial skills, knowledge, and competencies required in the fields of family medicine and rural health as the PA and NP professions continue to be ranked among the fastest growing career opportunities.
